STADS Occupational Therapy · Eindhoven and Tilburg

Get a grip on your day again

Occupational therapy isn’t about movement as such, but about what your day asks of you. Working, cooking, driving, playing with your children, and having the energy to keep it all up.

What it is

When everyday things suddenly become a struggle

STADS Occupational Therapy supports you when you’re limited in your daily functioning. That might be because of an accident, an illness, burnout or depression, leaving you with lasting fatigue or concentration problems, for example.

We look at what you want and need to be able to do in a day, and together we find a way to make that possible again. Sometimes by doing things differently, sometimes by spreading your energy differently, sometimes with an aid.

What we do

What does an occupational therapist do?

An occupational therapist helps you with daily activities that have become harder because of an illness, disability, accident or other cause.

Together we look at what matters to you and what you’d like to be able to do again. We look for a practical solution that fits your situation.

We can help with

  • Washing, dressing and looking after yourself
  • Cooking, shopping and housework
  • Planning and organising your day
  • Coping with fatigue and pacing your energy
  • Coping with sensory overload, concentration or memory problems
  • Getting back to work, school or hobbies
  • Adapting your home or workplace
  • Finding and using suitable aids
  • Increasing your independence and safety

Physio and OT

Great teamwork, but what’s the difference?

Occupational therapy and physiotherapy both aim to improve your daily functioning, but from a different angle.

Physiotherapy

Focuses mainly on your body and movement. Think of improving strength, mobility and balance, or reducing pain.

Occupational therapy

Looks mainly at how you can carry out your daily activities. What can’t you do any more, and why? Together we look for a way for you to do the tasks that matter to you as well as possible again.

In practice, our therapists like to work together, so you have one plan instead of two.

Your treatment

How it works

  1. We map out what you need

Through a conversation, a questionnaire, or at your home. What do you run into during your day?

  2. A plan, together

A treatment plan that fits you and your goals. Not an average person.

  3. And then keeping it that way

Once you’re back in control, we look at what you need to stay that way.

What clients say

“Thanks to my occupational therapist, I’ve got a grip on my energy. I now understand why I was so tired.”

Reimbursement and referral

What you need to know before you come

Occupational therapy is covered by basic insurance

Occupational therapy is reimbursed under your basic insurance for at least ten hours per calendar year. So you don’t need supplementary insurance for it. The costs do count towards your deductible (eigen risico). That doesn’t apply to children under 18, or if the reimbursement comes from supplementary insurance.

Usually no referral needed

In most cases you can go straight to an occupational therapist. This is called Directe Toegankelijkheid Ergotherapie (direct access to occupational therapy). At your first appointment, we do a short screening to check whether your needs suit occupational therapy, or whether another professional would be a better fit.

Aids and equipment

We handle the application too

Sometimes the solution is an aid: a mobility scooter, an adaptation at home, a brace. We help you with the application: which organisation, what supporting evidence, which form. That saves you a lot of legwork at a time when you can do without it.

Who treats you

Close links with our physiotherapists, and beyond that with dietitians, psychologists, speech therapists, GPs and medical specialists.
